Men are inherently protective. It’s in their DNA, (or so we’re told).

When a man feels like he has to protect you from something, it triggers that instinct to come out and play, which will immediately make him more attracted to you.

You see, men love to be a hero for the women they are with.

The best part? If you want to trigger his hero instinct and make him fall for you, you can do that via text! I’ll show you how:

1) Ask him for help with something

The first way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to ask him for help with something.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. You might be thinking, “Really? That’s all it takes? Just ask a guy for help with something and he suddenly becomes completely obsessed with me and wants to marry me?”

No, not exactly. While asking a guy for help with something can definitely trigger his hero instinct, it’s not going to happen right away.

This has to be a consistent thing. You can’t just ask him for help with something one time and expect him to be completely head over heels with you.

Asking him for help with something is a great way to trigger his hero instinct, but it’s important to remember that he has to see you do this often enough for it to have any real effect.

If you ask him for help with a few things here and there, he will start to notice how you rely on him.

He will start to notice that he is the one you depend on to get things done.

You see, he will start to notice that you are comfortable asking him for help and he will also probably feel really good about himself because he will know that you trust him and that you appreciate his assistance.

This brings me to my next point:

2) Tell him about what you need

Another way to trigger his hero instinct is to tell him about something you need, and then have him provide it for you.

For example, if your car breaks down and you need to get it fixed, you could say something along the lines of, “My car is broken again. Would you mind helping me get it fixed?”

But it could also be something like: “I’ve had a rough day and could really use some encouraging words right about now.”

Letting him know you need something will trigger his instinct to want to provide for you.

And since men are all about instant gratification and immediate rewards, the best way to do this is to let them know you need something right away.

You don’t have to wait a while and then inform him that you need his help with something.

If you genuinely need something, tell him right away, and he will respond to that and try to help you as quickly as possible.

This works like a charm and the best part is that you learn how to voice your needs, which is the basis of any healthy relationship!

Now: you will need to allow his help, though, which brings me to my next point:

3) Let him protect you

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to let him know you need protecting and then actually allow him to do so.

You can do this by letting him know when you are in a situation where you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, but you don’t want to seem like you are asking for help.

Let’s say you are walking home from work one night, and it is a bit dark out and a little bit late.

You could let him know that you are walking home and that you wish he was there to protect you.

If you let him know that you are in a potentially unsafe situation, but you don’t want to seem like you are asking him to come to save you, it will trigger his instinct to protect you.

He wants to protect you. He wants to keep you safe, and most importantly, he wants to make sure you are out of harm’s way.

You see, when you let him protect you by, for example, texting him to call you while walking home, you will instantly trigger this hero instinct of his.

If you still feel a bit unsure about the whole hero instinct, there’s an excellent free video by the relationship expert James Bauer in which he explains this concept a bit further.

He’ll also give you a few tips on what texts you could send to your man in case you’re unsure after reading this article!

4) Let him know how happy he makes you

Another way to trigger his hero instinct is to let him know how happy he makes you.

Let him know how much better your life is now that he is in it.

Let him know how grateful you are that he is in your life.

When you let him know that he is appreciated and valued, he will immediately like you more.

Let him know how much better you feel when he is around and his inner hero will come out in an instant.

You can tell him how much you appreciate the effort he puts into your relationship.

You see, men are not much different from us women – they love to hear that they make us happy.

Contrary to popular belief, that will not push a guy away – quite the opposite, the right guy will be thrilled to hear that you like him and that you’re grateful for all the effort he puts into your relationship.

On that note:

5) Give him compliments

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to give him compliments.

Sometimes, we are afraid to give men compliments because we don’t want to come on too strong, but in reality, there is nothing wrong with complimenting him here and there.

Let him know how handsome he is when he wears that new shirt he bought.

Tell him how good he looks in that tie. Point out how much you appreciate the effort he put into his appearance.

Compliments are the best way to make him feel like he is doing a good job.

And the thing is when you build up his confidence, that will bring out his hero instinct in an instant.

Confidence really is the key for men to feel like a hero, which is also related to my next point:

6) Help Him Feel Like A Man by showing him you respect him

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to show him that you respect him.

Men love to be respected. It makes them feel good about themselves.

It gives them confidence. It makes them feel like they have achieved something great.

Men want to be respected by their peers and by the women they are with.

Even though this might sound a bit outdated and strange, respect doesn’t mean you need to be submissive, at all.

You can show him that you respect him by telling him he is a gentleman.

You can show him you respect him by letting him pay for the date.

You can also show him that you respect him by giving him your undivided attention.

Over text, you can show your respect by saying things like “I know you’re busy at work right now, you always work so hard! I’ll leave you to it, and we can talk later”

Texts like this will prove to him that you respect both him and his time, and he will feel like a man because of it.

But respect is not the only thing he wants…

7) Show him your appreciation for him

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to show him that you appreciate him.

Men are very goal-oriented – they want to accomplish things.

They want to feel like they have done something good and made an impact.

They want to know that what they have done has benefited someone in some way.

Simply put, men want to be appreciated. A lot of the time, they don’t really like attention and they don’t really like to be praised or thanked.

They just want to know they have done a good job, and they have benefited someone.

You can show him that you appreciate him by letting him know when he has done something good. You can also show him that you appreciate him by thanking him for things.

This works really well over text, you can literally just say things like “Hey, I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate all the things you do for me and how much you support me”

This will not only warm his heart, but it will also bring out his inner hero.

8) Give him your undivided attention, even while texting

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to give him your undivided attention, even while you are texting.

Men love to be around women who give them their undivided attention.

They love to be around women who they can be with but who are not always looking at their phones and trying to get the attention of other men.

In short, men want a woman who will give them her undivided attention.

They want a woman who is present with them and focused on them.

Now: admittedly, that’s a bit harder to do over text, but you can try to be present with him and focused on him when you text.

You can do this by just focusing on him and what he has to say.

Don’t answer his texts generically and quickly, without really getting into what it was he was saying.

Instead, really try to see what he said and then answer mindfully.

9) Figure out his love language and find a way to fulfill it

Another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to figure out what his love language is and then find a way to fill it.

Every person has a love language, and you can trigger a man’s hero instinct by filling his love language.

You can trigger his hero instinct by giving him the love and attention he craves.

Now: if you don’t know the five love languages, they are:

1) Words of affirmation

2) Quality time

3) Receiving gifts

4) Acts of service

5) Physical touch.

So, for example, if you know that he really likes it when you give him a gift, then get him a gift.

Over text, this could be something like sending him a little Starbucks coupon and saying “for your busy workday today”.

Sure, if his love language is physical touch, this is a bit harder to do over text, but you could try sending him a text like “next time I see you, I’m giving you a nice massage, you’ve been working really hard”.

This will at least let him know that this physical touch is coming.

Now that we’ve had so many beautiful and caring things you can do, I almost forgot about the last point:

10) Keep him on his toes

Lastly, another way to trigger a man’s hero instinct is to keep him on his toes.

Men love a challenge. They love to play with you and they love to keep you guessing.

Now: that doesn’t mean you need to play mind-games with him or ignore him or anything like that.

I believe that if a relationship is right, you don’t need any of that nonsense.

Instead, challenge him in other ways!

Send him a text challenging him to a competition or a game to play together, be a bit cocky from time to time, and tell him to prove to you that he can do something better/ is stronger/ etc.

This will drive a man crazy and he will love you for it.

Do what feels right

Just to be clear: I’m not saying you should do all of these things at once.

I’m saying that if you really want to make a man fall in love with you, then do a little bit of all of these things to see which ones really work for you.

You can’t go wrong with any of them!

When it comes to men, they are all different and there is no one-size-fits-all approach that works for everyone.

However, these points are pretty universal and you can see which one of them he responds to the most!

Good luck!
